Leonardo Da Vinci

Ken Burns, Sarah Burns and David McMahon take us inside the mind of a genius in 'Leonardo da Vinci', a two-part documentary from PBS featuring the visionary creator and his unique contributions to both art and science. Da Vinci’s own art and illustrations are the inspiration for a film design package that explores the polymath’s intellectual and artistic processes through a unique lens.

Leonardo's thought processes are visualized through fine line work suspended in a dark, infinite space, evoking ideas forming out of the void. This minimal yet intricate design mirrors the precision of his sketches, while presenting them in a way that feels universal and timeless.

Chapter cards and episode titles use oversized serif type set within a strict grid, inspired by da Vinci’s architectural schematics. Each title reflects the precise symmetry and fine line work of his notebooks, as if drafted by hand.
