The UFO Complex

This J.J. Abrams–produced series explores the deep and enduring fascination with unidentified flying objects, while critically examining the possible roles of the U.S. government, private industry, and the military in obscuring the truth behind extraterrestrial phenomena. The opening titles and overall visual language draw from a rich palette of imagery - including cosmic star charts, declassified documents, and military technology. These elements are woven together into a design that feels disorienting, mysterious, and intentionally unsettling, reflecting the complex, often contradictory nature of the subject matter.

The type design takes clear inspiration from science fiction classics like Alien and 2001: A Space Odyssey, drawing on their minimalist yet powerful aesthetic. A clean, wide-set sans serif font is used to evoke a sense of timelessness and grandeur, aligning with the series' cosmic themes and speculative tone.
