This Apple TV+ series chronicles the dramatic rise and rapid collapse of the proposed European Super League (ESL) in April 2021. Spanning the pivotal 96-hour period in which the breakaway league was announced and then quickly unraveled, the documentary exposes a high-stakes power struggle between UEFA and Europe’s elite football clubs. To articulate the film’s complex themes - ranging from league hierarchies to political and organizational dynamics - a series of bold visual systems were designed to bring clarity and structure to the unfolding conflict.
A series of conceptual sketches mapped the foundational structure of European football, illustrating the progression pathways available to any club aspiring to reach the top. Additional diagrams visualized how the proposed Super League would disrupt and ultimately block this meritocratic system. These initial explorations were then evolved into fully realized 3D renders.
